Norwegian Review

I’m sharing my review of the Norwegian Breakaway out of New Orleans. We sailed on the Breakaway in November 2018, the first sailing out of New Orleans. This was our first time sailing with Norwegian. We have sailed over 20 times with all the major cruise lines and at least 3-4+ times within each line on different size ships. Be sure to check out the Cruise Vlog & Ship Tour from this cruise here:

Thanks for the review… great info .
I’m trying Norwegian for the first time 2019

Sue Mixsell says:

Really helpful review. I was wondering how NCL would fare off (compared to Princess and Celebrity.) The embarkation/disembarkation info is very important. Thank you for your honest and we’ll thought out review!

Claudia E says:

When are you trying Disney? I literally cannot wait until you do because you have SO MUCH experience with cruising so I would love to hear your opinion. Especially since Disney is so much more expensive (usually).

Monkey Boy says:

cool. We’ll be on its 3rd cruise out of New Orleans (our 2nd cruise out of NO, our 2nd NCL).

We’ve done a few lines. The best in-room tv by far was on Hal Koningsdam. That’s a good looking ship. Awesome shower, nice bathroom. Buffet was really good too (although parts of it seemed to close early). We went over new years, and there were many families, many young adults on board (not the all octogenarian stereotype). I’d definitely recommend a newer Hal ship if you’ve not tried it. We’ve never done Princess, but probably not that different.

Also, we were on highest floor, the last to disembark; they didn’t rush us off at all. We hung out, played pingpong, could take our time.

Helen Ross says:

Really enjoyed this and learnt a lot . We are going on our first cruise February next year on Royal Caribbean Ovation of the Seas and you are right there is a lot we won’t know and hope that when we are on board etc and disembarking as well we will know what to do .

Pam Kane says:

You mentioned the private beach. Is that considered a Breakaway excursion or is it part of the cruise? Just wanted to plan ahead for all upcharges. We’re going in March on the same ship.

Zhaank says:

Thanks english for exist

The Happy Hour Hound says:

Maybe shorten these a bit and show the actual rooms, foods, dining areas you are talking about while the video is going on? It might help make the vids more interesting.

We have over 30 cruises on most lines except Carinival. Celebrity is our fave so far.

Grace B says:

Thank you Crystal.

Sharon C says:

Whaaat? Maria didn’t book the Haven for you? Lol. We did the Haven on the Escape before it got obscenely expensive. Best cruise out of 6 we were on. We’ve recently decided to go on less cruises, and splurge for a bit of decadence. Bummer about the movies. We watched at least 6 movies on Royal Princess and was grateful we didn’t have to pay. Of course that cruise had a bit more excitement than I would have liked….and we still don’t know details of death/murder. We’ve decided to do some land vacations before cruising again.

Sarah Albert says:

Glad you enjoyed NCL and the Breakaway for the most part! They are one of our favorites to cruise on. Funny about the disembarkation process— on the NCL Bliss 2 weeks ago we got a sheet like the daily 2 nights before explaining it all. I’d think the process would be communicated the same across the fleet. Thanks again for the review, I was interested in your opinion of NCL!

Great stirrup cay is Norwegian private island

I just took my first cruise last weekend. I am a single mom with 3 kids so we decided to do a 3 night Disney Cruise – perfect length to test out cruising and tons of options for kids. We loved it! So now I’m interested in learning more about other lines, mainly because Disney is $$$$. We will likely cruise with Disney again in the future but to fully understand the value, I would like to test out another cruise line too.

Dee says:

Omg! My husband and I have been wanting to explore a cruise, would be our first time ever! But, never mind !!! Thanks for info just sounds like more of a headache than a vacation!

MsKristinn321 says:

Well, we can never cruise NCL, Tim will only drink Coke products! LOL Great review so much good information Thanks! xoxoxo

Daniel Ueblacker says:

I agree with Sheen…s the food is poor to say the lest. As for Cagney’s the best filet I’ve every had. So I’m not sure what you had, surprised me.

SDot2385 says:

I sailed with Norwegian last summer. It was my first cruise in 20 years so it was like the 1st time. I can’t remember the ship, but they included info on disembarking and when/where tags would be available in the newsletter. The process was still a little confusing tbh, but I didn’t have anything to compare it to. I did like being able to select our own time. We didn’t have a flight to catch, but we’re morning people, had been up for hours already and were anxious to get back home.

erik surli says:

Great review Crystal! We really want to try a Norwegian ship. We have only cruised Disney and have no kids. They have great adult only areas and exceptional service! Do you think you will give Disney a try?

Joan Erdelyi says:

We love the Princess Line…we are older and know what to expect.  We usually go with other couples so we have a set time to eat and then go to the shows.  Thanks for your review….our friends like Norwegian but they didn’t like the idea of so many restaurants where you have to pay extra.  Princess has that too so maybe it’s not so bad….a little confusing when you have not been on their ships.  Thanks a lot…

Casey Alvarez says:

We just got done with a Christmas cruise on NCL EPic and it was very similar to your review, spot on!

Jaden Berube says:

I went on the Escape awesome loved it

Aimee Rogers says:

Very informative Vlog. But isn’t Castaway Cay Disney’s Private Island? I thought NCL had Great Stirrup Cay as a private island
